ARTHR

ARTHR is our online newspaper layout tool. It’s designed to be simple to use, and to help you design and make a newspaper without needing to own or know how to use desktop publishing software.

A Brief Overview

Below is a screenshot of what ARTHR looks like.

ARTHR is split into a few sections.

  • In the middle is a preview of your pages, allowing you to scroll through your newspaper from left to right.
  • On the right is the list of stories in your newspaper, in the order they appear. You can reorder the stories by dragging and dropping them into the new order.
  • At the bottom is the picture tray, containing pictures that you’ve uploaded but not used in your newspaper yet. Once you’ve upload a picture you can place it on a page by selecting from a few size and position options.
  • Above the stories list is an ‘Add a story’ button, which displays a form that lets you copy and paste the text in directly, or to import a story from a web page.
  • Above the picture tray is an ‘Upload a picture’ button, which lets you pick an image file from your computer, or directly from the web.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make section headers or headlines that span across multiple columns?

We don’t support making headlines or banners from within ARTHR at the moment, but it’s easy to replicate the same thing with images. Just make the headline as an image on your computer, upload and position it across multiple columns with the height set to ‘auto’.
