Newspaper Club 2025 Year in Review

YIR1

2025 was a year of big headlines at Newspaper Club: new products, dream partnerships, our very own newspaper! Here’s a snapshot of what happened – all while 3.5 million of your newspapers kept our presses busy from start to finish.

Midi newspapers

Make way for midis

The marvellous midi newspaper joined the club! This was a long time coming and we’re thrilled to now offer a format that opens up exciting "magazine-y possibilities” (as Stack Magazines founder Steve Watson, expert on all things magazine-y, put it).

We've been watching the orders come in with great excitement and so far the midi's been used for catalogues, portfolios, zines, calendars and even a construction-themed colouring book. (If you missed our intro, meet the midi!)

The Printing Press newspaper

We printed our own newspaper

We decided it was high time we made a newspaper of our own, and The Printing Press was born! It's a celebration of the brilliant people who print with us, featuring interviews with folks behind brands like Papier and Cubitts, plus stories from exhibition designers, typographers, record shop owners and more. The Printing Press launched at the News and Coffee kiosk in Holborn, London alongside…

Billboards Glasgow 2 (1)

Our first billboard campaign

Over the summer, our bright billboards popped up around the UK in Glasgow, Birmingham, London, Brighton and Cardiff. These were a real collaborative effort, with photography by Heks Studio, design by D8 and special thanks to our model customers Sophie McNiven (founder of Sophie Home) and Supermundane.

Sophie and her family took a road trip to Brighton to see the billboards IRL and her Instagram post perfectly summed up what we wanted them to show: "Print is not dead. It brings my products to life season after season - and moments like this, that celebrate both the people I work with and the product we create, make me feel very much alive too."

Five-star service all year

We ended the year with an average star rating of 4.95 on Trustpilot. Thank you to everyone who took the time to leave a review! And a big round of applause for our stellar support team, who are the reason we had lots of feedback like this:

"They could give many other customer service teams a lesson or two in providing excellent service!"

"It’s obvious this is a company with real people who do everything they can to make their customers happy."

"The support team was fantastic – quick to reply, incredibly helpful, and genuinely invested in making sure everything turned out perfectly."

printing-with-purpose

Still printing sustainably

•  Recycling newspapers: In 2025, we recycled 131 tonnes of newsprint (the leftover paper from test copies and trimming minis and midis). Most became recycled paper products, while 16% was shredded for farm animal bedding.

•  Printing with (more) solar energy: Solar panels at our press generated 107,250KWh of electricity in 2025, up from 93,270KWh in 2024. This was enough to print almost 70% of Newspaper Club orders  – up from 59% in 2024!

•  Reducing waste: We introduced a new colour control system on our traditional press, which has reduced our ink consumption by around 20%. This means we both consume and transport less material per newspaper printed. We also recycled 13 tonnes of cardboard (from deliveries of ink, paper reels, etc) for manufacture into new packaging.

•  Planting trees: We added 510 trees to our Trees for Life grove, which supports the rewilding of the Scottish Highlands. Every employee gets a tree planted on their birthday, and at the end of the year we donate a portion of our annual profits.

NC 2025 partners

Working together

This was our busiest year so far for partnerships and we had the joy of working with some dream collaborators.

•  We gave Supermundane, Raissa Pardini, Yukfun, Clare Nicolson and Jonny Mowat open briefs to design a newspaper and make a video about it. They all blew us away with their ingenuity (and also revealed secret video editing skills!)

•  After seeing the gorgeous portfolios he printed with us throughout the year, we asked photographer Max Hemphill if we could use one of his photos for the cover of our 80gsm midi sample – and we got to give him a copy in person when he visited London!

•  We were back as sponsors for two of our favourite IRL creative events: INTL and Glasgow Print Fair. We also sponsored tabloid programmes for Brompton Design District, part of London Design Festival – after the event, the newspapers were used to wrap artworks heading home.

•  We sponsored a trio of newspapers revisiting archival photography by Daniel Meadows – published by the British Journal of Photography – and an essay on the state of print from Stack Magazines.

•  Vocal Civilian, a typography newspaper we sponsored in 2024, was displayed at the Brooklyn Public Library. It’s now part of the catalogue and can be borrowed with a library card!

NC talks

•  We gave talks at Papercamp during London Design Festival and at universities throughout the year, including Manchester College of Art, Edinburgh College of Art and the University of East London. We absolutely love talking to students, and this is something we hope to do more of in 2026 – if you’re a tutor interested in using newspapers as part of your course, we’d love to hear from you!

team projects

What our team printed

• Brand manager Sarah printed a broadsheet to surprise a friend at the finish line of the NYC Marathon and helped her mom make a tabloid celebrating their mail carrier’s retirement after 38 years.

• Support assistant Francesca printed a photo-filled tabloid for her son's 3rd birthday – now a tradition 3 years running!

• CMO Kaye printed a tabloid for her mountaineering dad for Father’s Day, using our vintage Canva template.

• Support assistant Olivia made an illustration portfolio and also printed artwork onto tabloids , which she cut out and turned into labels for craft kits (she runs workshops when she’s not helping you make newspapers!)

• Digital lead Billy surprised his partner with a trip to Helsinki for their 10th anniversary – complete with travel itinerary printed on our minis. He used our mini magazine Canva template and you can take a peek inside on our blog.
