With our presses switched off for the rest of the year, we're taking a look back at 30 front pages that capture (some of!) the many moods of 2021.
It's no surprise that the pandemic remained a big focus year-round — from photo zines documenting lockdown walks and staycations to reports on Covid's impact on the arts. As one front page sums it up: "COVID-19 is super duper lame."
Another recurring theme was the climate, with a steady stream of creative responses and a burst of projects around COP26 in November. We received more inquiries about the sustainability of our printing (which you can read about on our website) and launched our first recycled paper for digital printing.
Then there was the return of live sports, as seen through newspapers about the Euros and the Olympics this summer. Exhibitions and students degree shows were also back on. Restaurants re-opened. Long-awaited weddings finally happened and it was wonderful to see newspapers used in so many lovely ceremonies.
We're hopeful for more positive headlines in 2022. See you next year!
