Every month we choose a handful of newspapers that stood out and ask the people behind them to tell us more. Here’s what caught our eye in March – from a photo project capturing the Vermont Pond Hockey Championships to a broadsheet evoking NYC corner stores for a MoMA Design Store pop-up.

MoMA Mart Times
Format: Digital broadsheet / Paper: 55gsm improved newsprint
What it is: A broadsheet evoking the NYC corner market for a faux-food pop-up at the MoMA Design Store.
Why we love it: It takes cues from classic newspaper layouts but feels fresh and fun, with a modern design-themed crossword (3 Down: Surname of the designer of an S-shaped plastic chair from 1959) and a bold single-colour palette.
"A free newspaper created buzz and drove people to the shop. Everyone wanted one!" –Kelly Clawson, creative director

Hockey Boys by Ben Rosenzweig
Format: Digital tabloid / Paper: 55gsm improved newsprint
What it is: A photo newspaper by Ben Rosenzweig documenting the style, culture and worn-in gear of the Vermont Pond Hockey Championships across two winter seasons.
Why we love it: Ben captures the energy and atmosphere so well – from the Canadian flag folding chairs and kegs buried in snowbanks to barbecues set up on the ice. It's a peek into a world you otherwise only get to see if you’re there.
"I love being able to see my images printed large on a physical page. Flipping through the spreads always feels better than staring at a screen. I’ve received an incredibly positive response from everyone." –Ben Rosenzweig

The Checkout from Linktree
Format: Digital tabloid / Paper: 55gsm improved newsprint
What it is: The first issue of The Checkout, a newspaper by Linktree featuring trends and recommendations from its creator community.
Why we love it: It’s a great example of newspapers giving a digital community a physical presence. Designed by Sadie Williams with illustrations by Ashley Dreyfus, the tabloid was distributed at Linktree’s first pop-up (in custom newspaper dispensers!) and mailed to creators who couldn’t attend.

BLKNWS Paper
Format: Traditional broadsheet / Paper: 52gsm recycled newsprint
What it is: A companion piece and collector’s item for Kahlil Joseph’s directorial debut BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions, one of The New York Times’ top films of 2025.
Why we love it: The newspaper extends the conversation started by BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions, bringing its themes into print. It blends archival and original content – including an interview with illustrator Gyimah Gariba (who contributed animation to the film and designed its NYFF poster), a republished 1992 Sade interview and a revised obituary for Miles Davis.

At Work by Matthew DeFeo
Format: Digital midi / Paper: 55gsm improved newsprint
What it is: A photography zine by Matthew DeFeo documenting the early stages of construction on a long-abandoned Denver property.
Why we love it: The crew in white jumpsuits and the otherworldly light lend the images a cinematic feel – more like a staged film set than a construction site.
"Every trade involved was captivating to watch. The newspaper celebrates the effort invested in this project." –Matthew DeFeo

The Sabah Gazette
Format: Digital tabloid / Paper: 55gsm improved newsprint
What it is: A trade show take-away for Sabah, a footwear brand that collaborates with craftspeople around the world.
Why we love it: Trade shows are usually stacked with glossy pamphlets, and it can be hard for a brand to stand out. This newspaper reflects the tactility of Sabah’s handmade products, with a friendly, approachable feel. Another single-colour design (we can’t resist!) and the green here is really striking.
"Laying out the design was a blast but the best part was seeing the printed newspaper for the first time. It came out so great! Everyone that stopped by our booth took one."
–Griffin Olesky, wholesale manager

Farewell, Sebastian by David Severn
Format: Digital tabloid / Paper: 80gsm bright recycled
What it is: A personal photo newspaper by David Severn capturing his dad’s final performance after 50 years playing in Working Men’s Clubs and Miners Welfares across the UK.
Why we love it: It’s a beautiful tribute to a person and a disappearing side of social life. David’s black-and-white photos record the night as it unfolded, with scans of bingo cards breaking up the spreads and marking the evening’s bingo breaks.
"My love of photography grew out of taking a camera along to his shows as a teenager, so it seemed fitting to photograph him one last time. I liked the idea of a newspaper paying homage to the periodical newsletters the social clubs distribute."
–David Severn

Tasmeem Doha 2026
Format: Traditional broadsheet / Paper: 45gsm salmon newsprint
What it is: A free newspaper for Tasmeem Doha 2026, Doha’s biennial design festival, this year centred on knowledge sharing. It features contributions from artists and speakers exploring print, collaboration and the circulation of ideas.
Why we love it: The team chose a newspaper for its history of sharing knowledge, and gave this long tradition a modern spin with playful typography and colourful gradient effects.
"It was wonderful to see people reading it and carrying it along with the other printed matter they discovered during the fair."
–Hind Al Saad, co-curator
