Sand & Such is an online magazine all about getting good rest. Founded by designer Verena Michelitsch, the project is a timely "reminder that sleep is something enjoyable and precious." Through interviews, essays and playlists, Michelitsch explores how bedtime rituals can shape our days.
In April, Sand & Such set up "a temporary refuge of calm" at Canal Street Market in Manhattan. An Idle Afternoon, hosted in collaboration with Passerbuys and RUDAS, offered all sorts of activities to help folks wandering around the city unwind. The Ritualist was on hand for free facial massages and West Elm supplied cosy furniture and lighting. The video below captures some of the fun:
Visitors flopped around on Casper mattresses, listening to the Shipping Forecast and flicking through The Idle Times – which we've picked as our Newspaper of the Month. The digital tabloid celebrates "unstructured time" and we're delighted to see people get stuck into a nice newspaper to relax.

Every month, we give a £100 Newspaper Club voucher to one newspaper shared in The Newsagent. If you’ve printed a newspaper with us, share your newspaper (through the settings in your account) for a chance to win.
