About this newspaper

In Gretchen Andrew’s end-of-residency show at The White Building she redefines paintings as interfaces, works acting as shared boundaries between artist and viewer. Including Google Glass recorded videos, “painting time” stop watches, source and process material Gretchen simultaneously displays finished paintings alongside data not commonly exposed in a painting’s interface. The effect is an investigation of how this additional data impacts the viewer’s ability to create meaning from artwork.
